We’ve got a secret. When everyone is at the parade in Christiansted, we get all of Rainbow Beach all to ourselves! ☘️
St. Paddy’s Day Parade is a big deal on St. Croix. Well, any parade is a big deal on St. Croix. And most of the island flocks to Christiansted for the festivities. The parade starts mid-day and many of our friends with families attend. Then the party goes on in to the night with bands in town and drunken debauchery everywhere.
Meanwhile on our west end of the island, things are quiet, calm, and quite serene. We have made it our habit to head to Rainbow Beach on St. Patrick’s Day for a full-on beach day with cooler and snacks. We usually hang out for a Frederiksted sunset and then head home. Later in the afternoon, we might see a few parade goers wind up on the beach for a dip and it’s always fun to ask how it was and what they liked best.
This year, we met some other families on the beach and kept to ourselves. It was lovely and truly what we like about St. Croix. You can do loud crazy parade parties or you can do quiet peaceful beach parties and both are totally ok!
